About Heidi Yip

Heidi Yip was born in Hong Kong in 1978. At age 10, she moved to Toronto, Canada with her family. After graduated in Drawing & painting at Ontario College of Art & Design, It had fostered an urge, a familiar longing which took Heidi to Mexico, Tibet, the Gobi Desert, New York And then Taiwan, a small island surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. The indigenous culture here that resonates through the land makes sense, opens paths that welcome you home. Shapes, patterns, ferns leaves, roots, rocks, water, reflections… The thought energy flowing through them; its an ancient rhythm. As people, we are an amazing vehicle for a greater force called existence. We didn’t invent it. We are not the beginning or the end, but we are a fantastic part of it its high-tech radio receivers - ‘It’, however, is still the frequency. The artist’s job is to discern this frequency, use it, and draw connections to it. This collection by Heidi is a studied ritual guide to that spiritual tuning in.
