From Styling to Ice Cream with Erin O'Keefe

Summary of Episode:

Jenn speaks to Erin O'Keefe from White Plains, New York who is a stylist specializing in magazine editorials and celebrity fashion and most recently proud co-owner of Ice Cream Social the first independent Ice Cream shop out in White Plains that she started with her childhood friend this summer! Erin gives us insights into the styling industry and how Sutton's character in The Bold Type does do justice to a stylist's career path. How deciding to change careers at 40 with a newborn infant and a toddler at home was challenging and how you reconcile with the change of labels on your identity! That at the end of the day all the experiences gained from previous roles in her life have led her to succeed in applying them to the next challenge she encounters and continues to learn from them.

My identity is something that I have to reconcile with myself and with other people as well. But, it is a fun way to do it because I am doing what I like.

Pulling inspiration from worldwide travel and her time spent living in Shanghai, China and the UK, Erin introduces an artistic narrative into every shoot she styles. She is a fashion director for Cityist.com and has styled editorials for Hong Kong Tattler, L'Officiel, Z!nk Magazine, The Guardian, Cosmo China, Nylon Mexico, Red Collector, 125 Magazine amongst others.

Erin has styled celebrities Carey Mulligan, Morena Baccarin, Ruth Wilson, Amanda Lepore, and Sebastian Stan. Always happy on either side of the camera, Erin has appeared on the Today Show in New York and Off Broadaway in Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating and Marriage as a style expert.

Her ebullient personality makes each fashion shoot fun, but she is comfortable in high pressure situations and can rally the team to get the job done.
