Natural Dye Workshop with Natalie Thompson-Wu

About This Event

As we head into summer come learn about Natural Dyes with The Go Project founder Natalie Thompson-Wu. We will learn about how natural dye is created, used and why it is better for our skin and the environment when we choose to wear and use products made from natural dyes. In this workshop you will get to dye your own cotton fabric and make a 30x30 square cushion cover to use at home!

You will leave this workshop understanding

  • Natural fibers: cotton, linen, silk, wool

  • Dyeing tools and equipment

  • Preparing fabrics for the dye bath: scouring and mordanting

  • How to select plants for dyeing

  • Experiment with changing the color palette

Students are welcome to bring 1-2 pieces of their own to dye ie. napkins, tea towels, t-shirt.

Please note it must be 100% cotton or linen. 

Please bring your own apron!

This event will be held at the comfortable space of Make No Haste in Xindian. No prior experience is needed!

為了迎接夏季的到來,我們邀請The Go Project 的創辦人Natalie和我們分享天然染料。我們將會學到如何製作及使用天然染料,並且了解在我們選用天然染料時,對我們的健康和環境帶來哪些正面效益。在工作坊中,將可以帶回屬於自己30x30公分的棉質靠枕套,為家中帶來獨一無二的氣息!

歡迎學員們自行攜帶1-2塊布料,口布、餐巾或是 T-shirt,請留意材質必須為100%純棉或麻。
請自備圍裙,避免弄髒衣物。
活動將在非常舒適的空間-新店順時工作室,歡迎無經驗者一起體驗。

About Natalie Thompson-Wu


Natalie Thompson-Wu is a self-taught designer and natural dyer based in Taipei and founder of The Go Project. Using only plant extracts, she hand dyes a selection of linen, cotton and silk textiles. Her everyday homeware and accessories are hand made in small batches in her dye studio. From linen cushions, to scarves, totes and eye pillows, each product is completely unique. No two dye pots are ever the same. By using only natural plant extracts, Natalie is also able to create products that are non-toxic and safe for the environment.
