In 2019 Siargao island was listed as one of the best islands in the world by the Conde Nast, Insider, this little gem of an island in the Philippines is not to be missed. Despite current travel bans with covid19 being implemented to fight the global pandemic we still wanted to share one of our favorite spots with you.

If you like to surf, yoga, and everything that places like Bali, Canggu, Byron Bay, Hawaii, offers this is an island you must visit once travel is back to normal. Siargao is the hidden gem also known for its famous surf points (Cloud 9) in the Philippines and in the last few years has become an up-and-coming spot for island-loving travelers. From farm-to-table cuisine, yoga retreats to great day trips and island hopping there is something for the adventurous soul-searching travelers.

Surfing high season is from July-November and for those who don’t surf March-September is a great time to visit. The rainy season is from December-February but can also be nice as the island is less crowded.

Flying to the island can be a trek since if are flying from overseas you need to transfer twice either via Manila, Cebu, or Davao. From these cities you can either fly directly into Sayak Airport or to Suriagao (then take a 45min ferry ride over. Lots of options so you can do some research to figure out what suits your budget and time best. But do note it’s best to give yourself a full week including travel time incase you get caught in a storm and get stuck on the island or flights get canceled, which happens pretty often! But that’s why its a great place to disconnect and learn to go with the flow.

If you do make a visit and looking for a friendly home away from home accommodations we recommend staying with Tracy and Khyle at Soultribe Beach Retreat.

Tracy and Khyle met when they were working on a superyacht sailing the world together, one as a chef and the other as a deckhand. They both love outdoor adventures and wanted to create a place where like-minded travelers could come together and experience their favorite things to make their travel more memorable. Soultribe offers beachfront cabanas as well as tent glamping options with a cafe space by the reception area, pool, yoga space, and a firepit! Retreat instructors and organizers can also book your retreat here and coordinate with them on a great program for your student, they can also arrange activities and day trips for you!

While there are so many to-do’s on this little island, here is a shortlist of some of our recommended places to see and things to do!
